Named for Elizabeth I of England, whose court consumed Uzbek silk traded through Persia. Ivory and gold vicuña ballgown embroidered with Tudor roses in platinum thread, set with English pearls and Uzbek lapis. The Virgin Queen, dressed in the silk she never knew came from Samarkand.
